Alison Mosshart+Jack White=The Dead Weather?

While I was flipping through this past weeks NME, I saw a picture of Alison Mosshart (The Kills) and Jack White (The White Stripes) on stage some place. Upon actually reading it, I was surprised to find that Jack White and she have formed a new band, along with the bassist, Jack Lawrence, from The Raconteurs and the guitarist, Dean Fertita, of Queens of the Stoneage. They call themselve The Dead Weather, and their first album 'Horehound' is to be released on June 9th 2009. Personally, I'm not a big fan. Though I commend Alison for trying something new, it just sounds like another Jack White project or atleast a spinoff of The Raconteurs and I'm really not a Jack White-sound fan. Well, I'll have to see once the album comes out. In the mean time, this is their first single 'Hang You From The Heavens'. Opinions?

Re the cigarette smoking in this video, it always bothers me when I see young people smoking. They just don't believe they will ever suffer the serious consequences of what that stinky habit actually does to people, they think they will be young forever or that anything bad will ever happen to them.
Other than that I really like Jack White's voice so I really enjoyed this video even though I miss the White Stripes. Are they broken up for good do you know?

Lily: I completely agree! Smoking is just a mistake, regardless of how old you are, (though worse when you're young) and it's just disgusting. This was their only video, so otherwise I wouldn't posted a video because of cigarette smoking. I don't like it. As for the band statuses...The Kills are still a group, but as for The White Stripes, they may just be taking a break because there hasn't been any real news or songs out for a while.

Great combination of talented artists - I can't wait to see where this group goes. I'm pretty sure that Jack White and Alison Mosshart met during a tour they did together last year - there's a clip of them together in the Kill's music video for "Tape Song". Glad you posted about these guys, I like their music - good, solid, hardcore, rock. I'll probably be listening to a lot of these guys over the summer.

Arnie: There is also a video of Alison performing 'Steady as she Goes' with The Raconteurs. I did notice that in 'Tape Song'! Thanks for reminding me! Upon hearing about them, I was surprised you didn't post about them. We'll see what happens...
